Theater Unspeakable Company Class

Jan-Feb 2018

Object-Based Storytelling: Epic Journey

Theater Unspeakable (TU) is offering a six-week course where participants will explore object-based storytelling with a classic tale. The course will build towards the creation of an original tale of an epic journey. Along the way, participants will learn about physical characters, object manipulation, puppetry, epic storytelling, story and character creation and ensemble devised theater. The weekly classes will culminate in a final presentation open to the public.

TU’s Artistic Director Marc Frost and frequent collaborator Thomas Wynne will lead the course. Both instructors studied with disciples of Jacques Lecoq at various programs in Europe and have been teaching physical theater at different levels in the Chicago area over the past several years. Plus, long-time company members Alice da Cunha and Zachary Baker-Salmon will add their voices to the course, specifically focusing on the acting and dramaturgy involved in creating the original epic journey piece. Over the last few years, both Alice and Zac have been part of Jeff Award-winning productions in Chicago.

Class size is limited to 14 participants.
