In this hands-on workshop, you will gain a foundation and deeper understanding of the elements and techniques of transparent watercolor. Discover the unique properties of the medium, as well as how to control and use them to your advantage in relation to landscape painting.

Learn how to use your materials effectively, interpret color, create a working composition, and build a successful painting from start to finish through demonstrations and guided exercises. Photo references of various types of landscapes will be supplied by Dale.

Dale Popovich is an award-winning watercolorist and teacher passionate about capturing the raw beauty of the American landscape with the fluid stroke of a brush. Talent and training aside, it's Dale's vision that best informs his work. By age 20, he lost 80% of his eyesight. He learned to rely on his mind's eye to sustain him. After a nine-hour brain surgery removing a cyst on his optic nerve, he had to learn how to walk and write again. With vision fully restored, Dale discovered he could see more clearly than before. Dale taught at The Academy of Art in Chicago for 22 years. Now he teaches at the Palette and Chisel Academy of Fine Arts, Mainstreet Art Center, and Elmhurst Art Museum. Professionally teaching since 1978, Dale has worked with over 2000 students, mentoring many who are now accomplished artists.
